Hunts Bay heathland

Second day out with the special sites team – this time to Pennard Cliffs where we were looking at the area around Hunts Bay.

There has been a fire here a couple of years ago so we were interested to see what was growing under the burnt gorse.  Turns out to be more gorse! with a sprinkling of heather and some limestone grassland up near the exposed cliff edges.

We have to decide how we are going to connect the small areas of grassland and encourage the heather rather than let the whole cliff get covered in gorse again.

We came to some decisions about priority areas to be tackled, so the work can start as soon as we get some money!
