Cwm Ivy Update….

The lodge is gone! Last week saw the start of the work at Cwm Ivy which began with the dramatic destruction and removal of the old lodge. As well as the demolition of the lodge, the gas tank had to be disconnected and removed and the concrete base that was underneath the lodge needed lifting and removing.

This would normally be a straight forward enough procedure but, as the area was used as a firing range for testing shells and mortars in the second world war it required the army to come and oversee incase anything scary should be uncovered!

Everyone except me seemed remarkably casual about it all however and thankfully everything went without a hitch!

Over the next few weeks a new slab will be laid and the trees surrounding the lodge will be removed, if you’re in the area head down and take a look!
